Volunteer Positions  

Choose from our list of available positions below. Training is provided.

Please see Calendar of Events for dates and times. Volunteer assignments generally last 2-3 hours based upon the event. Assignments start as early as 9:00am and end as late at 7:00pm. You are welcome to participate as many times as you like.

1) Activities Assistant
Help guests enjoy Applewood events by participating in arts and crafts, children's activities and experiences in the garden.

2) Barn Docent
Guide guests through the barn. Share general history about the barn and its use by the Mott family during the years that Applewood served as a gentleman’s farm.

3) Behind-the-Scenes Assistant
Activities vary as the need arises. Typical repsonsibilities include preparing supplies for Applewood events and assisting with mailings.

4) C.S. Mott Exhibit Attendant
Direct guests to the display of C.S. Mott memorabilia and share information about the contents. Provide reference brochures.

5) Event Assistant
Provide logistical support for events. Typical activities include staffing an information booth, taking surveys and running a video for guest viewing.

6) Event Greeter
Greet guests, distribute brochures, count guests and direct guests to event activities.

7) Refreshment Attendant
Prepare beverages, serve refreshments, buss tables and replenish supplies.

8) Terrace Docent
Share general history about the Mott home and family. Guide guests around the terrace and provide information about the interior of the home.

9) Tour Guide
Conduct private tours of the estate for small groups. Give general history about the Mott family and the estate that began as a gentleman’s farm. Provide information about the gardens, apple orchard, trees, plantings, Mott family home and other buildings.

10) Tour Guide Assistant
Assist staff members with conducting tours of the estate. Primary responsibility is to keep the group together with the designated Tour Guide.
